Well, ok, 30-odd people in London….

Just a note to say Hello and Thank You to all the kind people who saw us play and gave us such a cool reception last week at London’s 12 Bar Club, and especially to those who bought CDs!

Hopefully we’ll see you  again soon.

In the late 1990s in California Dorian Wood decided to track down his worldwide namesakes using the interweb and eventually got in touch with Birmingham-based Dorian Wood. Finding someone who shares your slightly out-of-the-ordinary name on the other side of the globe would be one thing, but to find out that you are both involved in the creation of strange and beautiful music is something quite altogether different.

Come and see us play in this very room… 0

On Friday 21st March we’re putting on a very special night at The Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath, Birmingham.

The night is all about a very special talent all the way from from California USA, the wonderful Dorian Wood, who is touring the UK in March and April playing songs from his debut album “Bolka”

The Bolka album is without doubt one of the best things we’ve all heard in a long time and really, really deserves to be heard by a much wider audience. Dorian has a voice that is really beautiful and unique and he writes songs that, personally, remind me of… Read the rest

We don’t like to talk about our charity work… 1

..but well done to friend of the band Andrew Dubber of New Music Strategies.

Two or three months back he launched a cheeky and audacious bid to get to the CMJ Music Marathon in Noo Yoik City. He had been asked to speak on some panel or other, but the invitation didn’t extend to flights, accomodation, beer or even cornflakes. So, he hit upon an idea that was amazingly simple – Those who contibuted financially to helping him get there would feature on a t-shirt he would wear as he mingled amongst the movers and shakers. By his own admission he didn’t… Read the rest

The Unluckiest Band in Showbiz Strike Again.. 5

Apologies for the lack of posts over the last few weeks.

We’re all laying slightly low at the moment due to an incident that took place the night before our launch party when we were attacked on the increasingly mean streets of Balsall Heath.

Campbell was stabbed and is very lucky to be alive, my girlfriend Val was punched in the face and Executive Producer Robson and myself took a severe beating with iron bars. Niiiiiice!

This wasn’t the sort of press coverage we were looking for.

I’d like to point out that the altercation didn’t take place after “an arguement”, as reported by the… Read the rest

Greasy Moss Was The Final Hurdle 0

The CD copies of “Lighting and Electrical” arrived today.

…but only after another ‘Eventually….’

So.

Entirely in keeping with the rest of this album they arrived after being temporarily mislaid by TNT, apparently lost in their ultra complex system for an agonizing 36-hours.

Yesterday evening, as I was being informed by a helpful TNT call centre dude that they had lost the truck that was carrying the CDs from their GPS whatsit (“It’s weird”, he said, “It’s like it’s disappeared or something…”), I contemplated what else could possibly stand in the way of our Commercially Inviable folk music.

The answer to my question was: The moss… Read the rest
