A big thanks to Roots Highway in Italy for their 7.5/10 review of our album, and a big thank you to all the people that have bought the record as a result, we hope you enjoy it.
We can’t read what’s being said in Roots Highway’s review of Lighting and Electrical because unfortunately we cannot read Italian, but it appears to mention that we go about things with “a disarming nonchalance“, and if that is indeed what it says then we’ll take it as a compliment.

A postcard from Birmingham, heart of the England. And ‘dated 2007 – the usual strayings of the mail – and is signed from two boys and a girl from the long mess kit: thought that John Peel itself innamorò of them already in 2001, when called themselves Toques. Now they define themselves “friends of the stars”, and in effects the air that expires from the songs of this debut from the long gestation and tormented – the records are begun in 2005 – does to think people that loves to stay with the nose to the upwards, to mirar vague and distant constellations. If the reality that surrounds is them that withdrawn on the cover, devastation post-industrial with “still life” (a van from electrician), how to give their wrong? Very better the escape in the fantasy of these bittersweet melodies and harmonic openings electroacoustics, that Anna Russell, Campbell Docherty and Craig Hamilton handle with disarming nonchalance.
We take the Agreement round of guitar that announce to the world it their come in the initial Old Souls: there is a that of fragrant, like cloths extended to the sun and to the wind to dry, in the music of the Friends of the Stars, that puts yes of good spirits but persuades also to the melanconia. Resonant accompaniment ideal for days between the meadows to pursue dreams and elusive memories, with on the background the grey town that do relentlessly return (you see the electric virus that troubles some of the clearest harmonies, like Dragonfly, the more neighbor like sounds to the shape of the rock danced). Certain times – the programmatical one (in the title) Feelin’ Blue for example – is the bucolic mood to prevail and the reporting stylistic one that returns more useful is that of the neighboring Beauties & Sebastian (and if to read this name you will proceed, deserve yourselves of end on an uninhabited island with a greatest hits of Keith Urban to listen to for the remainder of the life, vaccari that is not other!). To times – accomplice the attractive voice of the Russell – also thinks to have for the hands a version it-fi of that folk-English rock that has in the Fairport Convention the branch with the thicker leaves. Other times instead the meadows become prairies, and forget to be ourselves in the dying old person England while the music echoes the sounds of the Novelty (it is done to say) hereafter of the Atlantic, like in Been Down, harmony countreggiante to two shouting.
Three pens, three shouting that alternate, chase themselves and support themselves, without that the atmosphere of the disk you result for this except for coesa, also when the sounds dare something in more: it almost rumoristica Fork in the Road is a miracle of balance, a three fourth stained of feedback that discovers the Sonic Youth hidden behind a tree of a painting of Constable. Although the title, you did not wait for to come electrocuted from this disk: will do yourselves its little to the time and then will find to attend yourselves with persistence the blog of the band to know when will be ready the I continue. Hoping that they not three years may want us, this time. (Yuri Susanna)
